Third Year Jefferson Scholar receives Goldwater Scholarship to study mathematics

Catherine Cossaboom, the J. Mack Robinson Jefferson Scholar from the Class of 2025, is one of 438 college students across the country selected to receive a Goldwater Scholarship. Awarded to college sophomores and juniors who intend to pursue research careers in the natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering, the Goldwater Scholarship was established by Congress in 1986 and is designed to maintain the nation’s competitive advantage of scientific talent. This year, 1,353 students were nominated for the award. Catherine is the 12th Jefferson Scholar to receive the award.
