Foundation-funded professor and notable economist honored by the American Economic Association

Alex MacKay, the James H. and Elizabeth W. Wright Jefferson Scholars Foundation Distinguished Professor, has been recognized by the American Economic Association with a 2025 Best Paper Award. Alex and his co-author received the award for their paper, “Competition in Pricing Algorithms,” published in the American Economic Journal: Microeconomics.
UVA economists received two of the four awards given across the American Economic Journals this year–a remarkable achievement that highlights the strength of the University’s economics faculty. Award recipients will be honored with medals at the upcoming American Economic Association meeting.
