Jefferson Scholar alumna named president of Yale University
Yale University has announced that Maurie McInnis, JS ‘88, will become its 24th president beginning July 1. With more than three decades of experience in public research and academic institutions, including as vice provost for academic affairs at UVA, provost at University of Texas, and president of Stony Brook University, Maurie will serve as chief executive for Yale University.
As an alumna of the Jefferson Scholars Program, Maurie has been actively involved in helping the Foundation fulfill its mission to recruit outstanding students to UVA for over 30 years. She has served on the Foundation’s various selection committees, interviewing prospective students and encouraging them to consider attending UVA. She also has helped advise the Foundation on how to enhance its programs as a member of its Undergraduate Advisory and Faculty Advisory Committees.
