Three of the 18 UVA students offered Fulbright Scholarships in 2022 were Jefferson Scholars

Recently, the U.S. Department of State placed the University of Virginia among the top 20 institutions for the number of applicants selected for the 2022-23 Fulbright U.S. Student Program. In 2022, 18 UVA students were offered Fulbright awards, three of whom were Jefferson Scholars.
Elizabeth Duncan, the Jason A. Gill Jefferson Scholar, Alexandra Hartman, the Pinho Family Jefferson Scholar, and Ben Hazelton, the W. Harry Schwarzschild Jr. and Kathryn Schwarzschild Jefferson Scholar, all accepted the Fulbright Scholarship in 2022 to teach English in Vietnam (Duncan) and Taiwan (Hartman and Hazelton). They are the 11th Jefferson Scholars to receive the award in the program’s history.
