Remembering a Foundation friend and benefactor

October 25, 2022

The Jefferson Scholars Foundation is deeply saddened by the loss of Thomas A. Saunders III (GSBA ’67), a longtime benefactor and friend to the Foundation. Last summer, the Foundation announced that Tom, his wife Jordan, and their daughter Calvert Saunders Moore (Col ’90) committed $10 million to endow two University Professorships at UVA, which will be matched by the UVA Bicentennial Professors Fund for a total investment of $20 million. This transformational gift will have a lasting impact on both the Jefferson Scholars Foundation and countless UVA students who have the opportunity to work with the caliber of scholars these professorships are designed to attract.

As mentioned in the linked story below, Tom’s impact at the Foundation, UVA, and the Darden School of Business leaves a legacy that will persist for many generations into the future. Our deepest condolences go to his family, especially our friends Jordan and Calvert.
