Lisa Spaar, recipient of the Jefferson Scholars Foundation Faculty Prize, selected to speak at Fall Convocation
In 2013, Jefferson Scholar alumni selected Lisa Spaar as the sole recipient of the Foundation Faculty Prize. Lisa’s demonstrated excellence in leadership, scholarship, and citizenship distinguished her as a standout recipient of the bienniel award.
For nearly 25 years, she has been a member of of the faculty in U.Va.’s Department of English, and served as the director of the Creative Writing Program for more than 10 of those years. In 2000, she founded the undergraduate Area Program in Poetry Writing and has directed the program ever since. Her dedication to students inside and outside the classroom continues to receive recognition, most recently as the selected keynote speaker at the University’s 2017 Fall Convocation.
