Joe Riley, JS '13, featured in Harvard Business Review article

Joe Riley, the Betty and Jack Blackburn Jefferson Scholar, was featured in a recent Harvard Business Review article written by Ash Carter, director of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard Kennedy School and the 25th United States Secretary of Defense. Carter’s article, entitled “What I Learned from Transforming the U.S. Military’s Approach to Talent”, holds Joe as an example of outstanding talent that the military managed to recruit–and almost managed to lose. 

Joe is currently deployed to Afghanistan with the Ranger Regiment. After he graduated from U.Va. in 2013 with High Honors in the Politics Honors Program and Chinese Language and Literature, he went on to receive his Masters and Doctorate in International Relations at Oxford University on Rhodes and Truman Scholarships.
