December 5, 2017

Jack Brake, the C.D.L. and M.T.B. Perkins Jefferson Scholar, is one of 142 students across the world to be named a Schwarzman Scholar. Designed to prepare the next generation of global leaders, the Schwarzman Scholarship was established in 2016, offering recipients the opportunity to pursue a one-year Master’s Degree at Tsinghua University in Beijing, one of China’s most prestigious universities. Jack emerged from a highly competitive pool of more than 4,000 applicants.

Jack looks forward to joining the third class of Schwarzman Scholars and to learning more about China and international politics in East Asia before coming back to the United States to pursue a Ph.D. Jack is the second Jefferson Scholar to receive a Schwarzman Scholarship. Ben Harris, the David J. Wood Jefferson Scholar, joined the inaugural class in 2016.
