Foundation announces speaker for its 2023 Shadwell Speaker Series

On September 21, 2023, the Foundation will present a special evening with UVA alumna and New York Times bestselling author Georgia Hunter. When Georgia was 15 years old, she learned that she came from a family of Holocaust survivors. Her book, We Were the Lucky Ones, was born of her decade-long quest to uncover her family’s staggering history. Today, the book has landed in the hands of over one million readers, having been translated into 16 foreign languages. Recently, it was optioned by Hulu as a limited series. The Foundation invites the UVA and Charlottesville communities to join Georgia at the Foundation as she shares her story—and what it was like to write it.
