Attiya Latif, JS '18, is one of 62 college students across the country to win a Truman Scholarship

April 13, 2017

Attiya Latif, the Hathaway Family Jefferson Scholar, joins 62 college juniors across the nation in being named a 2017 Truman Scholar by the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation.

Established as a memorial to President Truman, the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation promotes the notion that a better future relies on attracting to public service the commitment and sound judgment of bright, outstanding Americans. Truman Scholars are therefore chosen on the basis of their academic success and leadership accomplishments, as well as their likelihood of becoming public service leaders.

As a Truman Scholar, Attiya will receive $30,000 for her graduate studies, as well as priority admission and supplemental financial aid at many premier graduate institutions. In addition, she will receive leadership training, career and graduate school counseling, and special internship opportunities within the federal government.
