Visionary artist and generous benefactor Jane Walentas has passed on a legacy that will endure for years

July 21, 2020

The Jefferson Scholars Foundation is deeply saddened by the loss of Jane Walentas, a remarkably talented woman, visionary artist, and longtime benefactor to the Foundation. Last fall, the Foundation announced that she and her husband David committed $100 million to launch the Walentas Scholars Program, a premier, merit-based scholarship program for first-generation students. This transformational gift will have a profound and lasting impact on both the Jefferson Scholars Foundation and countless first-generation college students. Our deepest condolences go to her husband David, son Jed, and their family.
