Sasha Shapiro is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Slavic Languages and Literature at the University of Virginia. Her research interests include representation of medical ethics in Russian literature, and the crossover of philosophy and literature. Shapiro’s dissertation follows conceptions of death and dying in 20th century Soviet literature. She received her B.A. in philosophy and Russian studies from Dickinson College.
