U.Va. professor and friend of the Foundation spotlighted for cutting-edge research in the field of retinal development and disease

In 2017, the Foundation announced the holder of its first endowed professorship. After an extensive national search, award-winning neurobiologist Jianhua ‘JC’ Cang was named the Paul T. Jones Jefferson Scholars Foundation Professor. His wife, Xioarong Liu, also a star career neurobiologist, joined him on Grounds as an assistant professor of biology and psychology.
Today, Xioarong is an associate professor at U.Va. conducting cutting-edge research in the field of retinal development and disease.
