Two Jefferson Scholar alumni lead pivotal cases to the U.S. Supreme Court

Scott Ballenger, the Jean Rayburn - South Carolina Scholar from the Class of 1993, and Xiao Wang, the Jeffrey R. Anderson Family Scholar from the Class of 2008, are helping to bring two different cases to the nation’s highest court.
Ballenger is director of the Law School’s Appellate Litigation Clinic, which is presenting a case on prisoner rights. Wang, who joined the Law School faculty last year and directs its Supreme Court Litigation Clinic, is presenting a case on sexual orientation discrimination.
