Three Jefferson Fellows receive prestigious fellowships in support of their research
Three Jefferson Fellows recently received prestigious fellowships to continue their research efforts. The Metropolitan Museum of Art awarded Clara Ma and Najee Olya the 2022-23 Fellowship in History of Art and Visual Culture. Clara’s work examines images of Buddhist divine monks in the visual culture of China, and Najee’s work explores visual representations of African individuals on painted ceramics produced in ancient Athens. In addition, Kelvin Parnell was selected for the two-year Wyeth Predoctoral Fellowship at the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts and was awarded a Luce/ACLS Dissertation Fellowship in American Art for his dissertation project, “Casting Bronze, Recasting Race: American Sculpture in the Mid- to Late-Nineteenth Century.”
