Shefalika Prasad, JS '21, hits the ground running at U.Va.

August 24, 2017

Shefalika Prasad, the Ralph C. Wilson Jefferson Scholar, has been on Grounds as a First Year for less than one week and already she is putting into motion plans to make her mark on both the University and Charlottesville communities. Four years ago, as a ninth grader at Clarence High School in Buffalo, New York, Shefalika combined her passion for tennis with her love for helping youth by founding ServeToServe, a nonprofit complete with its own charter, website, and registration as a 501(c)(3) organization.

Designed to inspire children under 10 to get involved in sports, ServeToServe aims to keep youth constructively occupied while helping them grow physically and mentally. UVA Today recently featured Shefalika’s efforts to bring the mission of ServeToServe to Charlottesville. Click here to read the story.
