National Geographic features the research of Jefferson Fellow alumnus Aaron Reedy

Before coming to U.Va. in 2012 to pursue a Ph.D. in biology, Aaron Reedy, the James H. and Elizabeth W. Wright Jefferson Fellow, spent six years as a public high school science teacher in Chicago, where he developed a passion for classroom instruction and discovered firsthand the importance of “learning by doing” not only for students, but also for teachers. His experience in the classroom is what inspired him to launch Evolution Education along with his academic advisor, Robert Cox.

Evolution Education is designed to engage some of the best middle and high school teachers from across the country in two-year fellowships, giving them the opportunity to conduct large-scale experiments with the help of their students and with the goal of pushing the limits of classroom science.
