Courtney Hill, JF '20, uses funding from the Foundation to help give individuals and families access to clean water
In 2016, the Jefferson Scholars Foundation launched the JSF Exploratory Fund to support the creativity and innovation of all Jefferson Scholars and Fellows. The Fund invites members of the Foundation community to apply for merit-based venture funding to implement cutting-edge ideas that create sustainable social, cultural, or economic change.
In 2017, Courtney Hill, the Olive B. and Franklin C. Mac Krell Jefferson Fellow, was one of the first members of the Jefferson Scholars Foundation community to receive a grant from the JSF Exploratory Fund. She was awarded $12,000 to help host the University’s first-ever Science Policy Symposium, a student-led event designed to bring together students and science policy experts from across the country. This year, Courtney became the first member of the Foundation community to receive a second grant.
